The Simple English Wikipedia; go for it!

Whensoever, we are assigned a project or task, or any other homework, which requires the help from reference articles and books, Wikipedia is our cream of the crop. But more often, Wikipedia crams us with chock-full of information, which is often way too beyond our teeny tiny needs. We just blow away our time in telescoping the freakishly enormous article, excerpting the relevant facts. All these hours can be saved one way or another.

Wikipedia offers a stripped-down version of it English encyclopedia site, which aims to provide an encyclopedia for people with different needs, such as students, children, adults with learning difficulties and the people who are learning English. It calls itself Simple English Wikipedia. The site offers concise articles, presenting only basic and relevant information, written in Plain English. Plain English articles emphasize the avoidance of technical language, brevity and clarity. The beta version of the site, which requires users to sign up at Wikipedia, allows users to download the entire article in Adobe PDF format for offline viewing, at no cost of course.
